TENER

Practice using the verb TENER to ask if the patient has any stroke symptoms. ¿Tiene [síntoma]?

¿Tiene sensibilidad en las piernas?
Do you have feeling in your legs?


¿Tiene entumecimiento/adormecimiento en alguna parte del cuerpo?
Are you numb in any part of the body?

¿Tiene debilidad en alguna parte del cuerpo?
Are you weak in any part of the body?

¿Tiene debilidad en la mano izquierda?
¿Tiene la mano izquierda débil?
Is your left hand weak?

To ask about states of the body (weakness, numbness), it is best to use the verbs TENER or SENTIR. Questions with ESTAR (¿La mano izquierda está débil?) may not sound very natural to a native speaker. As one of my Spanish teachers told me, "Suena como si no supieras mucho español." 😉 

NOTAR

Practice using the verb NOTAR to ask if the patient has noticed any stroke symptoms. ¿Ha notado [síntoma]?

¿Ha notado cambios en la vista/visión?
Have you noticed changes in your vision?


¿Ha notado problemas de equilibrio?
Have you noticed problems with your balance?

SENTIRSE

Practice using the verb SENTIRSE to ask HOW the patient feels. >> ¿Cómo se siente el paciente?

¿Se siente mareado/a?
Do you feel dizzy?


Cuando camina, ¿se siente inestable?
When you walk, do you feel unsteady?

SENTIR

Practice using the verb SENTIR to ask WHAT the patient feels. >> ¿Qué siente el paciente?

¿Siente adormecimiento/entumecimiento en alguna parte?
Do you feel numb anywhere?

¿Siente debilidad en alguna parte?
Do you feel weak anywhere?

¿Siente debilidad en la mano izquierda?
¿Siente la mano izquierda débil?
Does your left hand feel weak?

¿Siente adormecimiento/entumecimiento en el lado derecho de la cara?
¿Siente el lado derecho de la cara adormecido / entumecido?
Does the right side of your face feel numb?
